On January 18, 2011, Zachariah Peterson murdered James Porter during a drug deal at a mobile home park. Peterson and Porter were middlemen in a deal to exchange $20,000 for 30 pounds of marijuana. Porter was shot five times inside Peterson's Chevy Tahoe, falling out of the passenger side door as the vehicle drove away. He was found by a passerby and was dead by the time the police arrived at the scene. Investigators never found the murder weapon, $20,000 or 30 pounds of marijuana.
