Bryan Rankin died of a fatal shooting outside of a party on April 7, 2012. He had left the party to drop off friends who were on curfew, and when he returned a group of people circled his car, punched him in the face, and shot him the stomach. Rankin was listed as CEO of a group called “HCO Boyz,” according to his Facebook page, but friends dispute that the group was gang related, stating that they identified as a group that always wore Hollister clothing. Rankin’s half-brother, Zachariah Peterson, faced a second- degree murder conviction for the murder of James Porter, but Rankin’s family does not believe his murder was related to the Peterson incident.
