I’ve re-purposed the indexical architectural typologies made popular by Bernd and Hilla Becher, the minimalism of Lewis Baltz, and the ominous desolation of Robert Adams, to create a series of comparative photographs. This work is about the nature of comparison and its result: judgment. Composite photographs of Boone County, Missouri subdivisions are scaled equally to single photographs of details within those subdivisions, which are more various and ironic. My intention is to confront the viewer with the politics of these subdivisions against the banal details within the architecture. If this series were a sound it would be dull, faint, ringing in your ear.
